TGCDT: July 2020 - The Heat Embossing Technique - Let's get to it!

Hello fellow stampers and friends!

Thank you for checking out our blog hop!  The Gentlemen Crafters Design Team Blog Hop occurs monthly on the second Friday.  This is my first month participating and I am so pleased to have been invited to be a part of this group.

This month marks the First Anniversary for the hop, and we have three NEW members, bringing our group of global stampers up to 9. Be sure to visit them all to see what inspirations they are sharing - links are at the bottom of this post.

Today I am demonstrating an embossing technique using one of Stampin' up!'s brand new cling stamp sets from the 2020-21 annual catalog: Loyal Leaves, features three large leaf dies and several sentiments.

Supplies I am using for this project:

        1.Merry Merlot Card stock, 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4" on the long side.
2.Night of Navy card stock, 5 1/4" x 4" for the front of card and the
            stamping/embossing.
        3.Merry Merlot Card Stock, 1 1/2" x 2 3/4" for sentiment, I cut out using our rectangle
            stitched framelit dies.
        4. Gold embossing powder
        5. Embossing buddy (retired) or dryer sheet (anti static)
        6. Any faceted or your favorite embellishment for sentiment piece
        7. Whisper White Card Stock 5 1/4" x 4" for inside of card.
        8. Versamark stamp pad
        9. Heat Tool

Instructions:

         1. Attach the three large leaves to acrylic blocks.
         2. Rub the embossing buddy or suitable substitute over the Night of Navy card stock.
         3. Using the versamark stamp pad, stamp the images onto the Night of Navy card stock
in whatever design/order you desire or as shown in the video.
         4. Apply the gold embossing powder over the image, being sure to cover all of the
stamped areas. note: it is helpful to have a paper plate to shake the excess powder
off the card.  You may choose to do the sentiment card at the same time.
         5. Apply heat to the design either from the underside or top of card, being careful
not to burn your fingers. I find it helpful to use a large tweezer to hold the card
when heat setting.  The design is complete when the color changes and
             looks shiny.
         6. Using adhesive of your choice assemble the card, including inserting the card
               whisper white blank inside.

I hope you have enjoyed creating this project!
Happy Stamping and God Bless!
Tony

Wind Down Wednesdays-Stamping with Tony - Basket of Blooms and more with Embossing Folders

Hello fellow stampers and Friends!
A lot of design time went in to todays projects. Sometimes I get an idea or two in my head but it takes a while to figure out how to make it happen in a card. Plus I may or may not have misplaced the stamp set I needed for tonight's project in my studio.  Yes, it wasn't a Monday, but it was one of those days when I had more to do than time to do it.
But in the end no one died and the live video happened, I just ended up working out some of the design live.  I think it's kind of fun, especially when it comes together, like tonight.

So I hope you will enjoy these two projects.

Tuesday Stampin' Tips with Tony ~ Embossing Folders and Ink

Hello fellow stampers and Friends~
It's Tuesday night and that means time for Stampin' Tips from me.  I make it a goal to learn something new every day.
In regard to stamping I am always looking to learn something I don't know and when I do, I love to share it with others.
As if we don't have enough fun projects and techniques, I'm going to show you one that's new to me!

If you love using embossing folders to add an extra layer of texture to your projects, have you tried inking up the folders and embossing them?  OMGosh, I love it!   I'll post instructions and some photos below, and my video tutorial as well.  Happy Stamping!
God Bless!
Tony

Supplies:
Embossing Folders, I used Woodland and Tin Tile 3D in my demo.
CardStock - Whisper White and Very Vanilla or any you want to try.  5 1/4" x 4"
Stamp pad - Cinnamon Cider, Daffodil Delight, Mango Melody
Big Shot or similar

Instructions:
Open the embossing folder and look closely.  You will notice that one side has part of the design raised and the other side is the opposite image.  I recommend trying them both to see which you prefer then you can make a little mark to remember for future if you have a preference.

-Apply ink from stamp pad either by opening and tamping it over the area, or using a brayer.  Once you have the ink where you want it.  Carefully lay a piece of cardstock over it, and close it so it doesn't move. Run it through the embossing machine and open carefully.  Isn't that amazing?

-  Set that one aside to dry, clean up the embossing folder and try again using the opposite side.

- I like to let them dry for a few minutes before attaching to card base and embellishing.

Refer to the photos and video and definitely enjoy!
