The Gentlemen Crafters Design Team - March Inspiration Blog Hop!
Welcome fellow stampers and friends~
It is my pleasure to participate in The Gentlemen Crafters Design Team March Inspiration Blog Hop! Each month we have the opportunity to share one of our project ideas and I hope that you will be inspired to create one of your own.
Here in coastal North Carolina, Winter is quickly giving way to Spring, as flower bulbs are starting to emerge, and some early blooming trees are starting to give color. With Spring in mind, I decided to play with watercolor a bit and create layers of color in ink and cardstock. For this month's project, I used the Dragonfly Garden Cling Stamp set(154411), featured in our January-June 2021 Mini Catalog.

I chose to use the Subtles collection card stock, in Pear Pizzazz, Soft Sea Foam and So Saffron. The card base is 8" x 8 1/2", scored on the 8" side at 4"(Pear Pizzazz), The first layer is 3 1/2" x 8", (Soft Sea Foam), followed by 3" x 7 1/2", (So Saffron). The design utilizes Fluid 100 WaterColor paper (2 1/2" x 7") , ink refills, an acrylic block and stampin' spritzers, to create the background. Once the surface is dry, the design is stamped using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. The sentiment is stamped using Pear Pizzazz stamp pad.

The background is created by applying drops of color from the ink refill bottles, to a large acrylic block. Spritz water over the block until you are satisfied with the mix. Turn the block over onto the Watercolor paper and press firmly for 20-30 seconds. Note: you may spritz water onto the watercolor paper prior to applying the block to aid in absorbency.
If you have not tried this technique before, it is helpful to experiment with some blank paper a few times to get a feel for how it works best for you. It is fun, and no two will look the same, so I hope you will experiment, and above all, enjoy it!
Ciao!
Tony
